For those of you who do not know, I am on Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, and the Indie Writer Net. Now, I’m a newbie to Goodreads and the Indie Writer Net. Those don’t get updated as often unfortunately. 😦 I am sorry. I will post links for the above mentioned sites, below.

How’s the editing of True Connection coming you ask? Oh, it’s going…some days are slower than others, but it is progressing. I am hoping that I will have my edits and last read through complete before December. Not sure if that will happen because Thanksgiving is just a week away. But that’s my plan.

So what does that mean? What it means is that I will be able to send True Connection off to a few Beta Readers. When I hear back from them I will decide from there the next course of action. I am hoping they all agree that it’s a good read, but I’m preparing myself for the “Oh my gosh Rachel, you wrote a stack of crap!” Now you may say that sort of thinking shouldn’t be thought. Well, this is how I prepare myself for anything. Hope for the best, expect the worse. Ok I don’t do that for everything, but close enough.

Where is the teaser?? I will have one ready next week. I don’t know what I’ll be teasing you with yet, but I’ll me the decision soon enough and I hope you won’t be let down.

Ok, you’ve had enough of my rambling…here are the links 🙂

“Sweetie, you can’t be the strong one all the
time. This hurt isn’t going to go away no matter how strong you are, or if you
cry or not. You can’t change things. You’ll always miss them,
but even though you can’t see them, that doesn’t mean they aren’t there.
They’re always with you, in your head and in your heart. Your memories will
keep them alive. You just have to breathe through it, ok?”

-This quote was edited slightly to not reveal too much.

One of the things I hope people get from reading my book is that there is always someone.  No matter your situation, being bullied, recovering addict, depression, death of a loved one, etc. There is always at least one person who loves and cares. It might not even be the person you expect, but there is always someone to turn to. The fun part is finding that person. Don’t focus on the negativity, think positive. Reach out with both hands and hold on with all your might. Make a list for yourself, how many reasons do you have to smile? No, I’m not saying this is the soul and center of True Connection. This is just something there, that’s influential. My characters don’t have perfect lives, we don’t so why should they?

Leland won the next charater introduction. So that will be my next post. 🙂

This & That

I recently read a blog post from a fellow author ( http://authorthomasamo.blogspot.com/2012/11/wendy-let-me-explain-something-to-you.html?m=1 ) and it made me think of a conversation I recently had with my husband. Now, my husband is not a writer, or even a reader. He will read the newspaper and that’s about it. Very rarely will he pick up a book and read it. He just doesn’t see the joy or purpose. He’s very encouraging to anyone who wants to write, the kids or myself included, and he doesn’t discourage reading either. When the kids whine and complain about being bored, he tells them ‘clean your room or read a book, Mom (stepmom) has plenty of them!’ So it really irritated me when he said something to me the one day. He asked what I was doing, I responded, ‘I’m going to my desk to write.’ He gave me this look and said ‘Didn’t you do that last night?’ This irritated me. I told him he works for days in a row and this is kind of the same thing. You can’t always set yourself a strict schedule of ‘well I’ll only work when the spouse is at work,’ sometimes it just doesn’t work.

There really is only one point that I have, I have my ‘Jack’ moments along with my everyday ‘Rachel’ moments (ie: putting iced tea in my coffee thinking it was creamer, forgetting where I put my cell phone only to have it in my pocket, forgetting that the baby gate is mid-thigh-high and falling on my face).

I haven’t made a post regarding True Connection for a few days. I apologize for that. While I was editing, I came across a boo-boo, fixed it, noticed it again and fixed it again. After correcting this simple error, I decided to go back to the previous chapter. It was there. What started as a simple error suddenly escalated to a major error that I couldn’t believe I made. It was throughout the whole novel, minus the first 4 chapters. Now I know I’m not perfect, but it was something I felt was obvious. It’s corrected now, and I have moved on in editing. So that part is progressing. I have one beta reader lined up, but I would like another, so if you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know.

On that note, I will leave you with a teaser. I hope you enjoy it!

“Come on, please, let’s go talk on the boat. You need to know the truth, before I can let you leave, or take you home. Please, I think this is a good thing, a really good thing, and I hope you see it that way too.” He looks at me so sweetly.

“Fine, but you do realize I can swim. So it’s not like you can trap me out on the water.” Maybe I’m just blinded by his gorgeousness or I really am crazy. I’ll bet on crazy since I just agreed to this.

“I know.”

That saying of ‘curiosity killed the cat’ is thrumming through my brain as we climb onto the boat.

I’d also like to give you a song that I played repeated for a good portion of this book while I was writing.

Have a great day!

True Connection

Look at that beautiful work of art from from the wonderfully talented Regina Wamba at www.maeidesign.com

So, I have a teaser, it’s just another short one. I’ll get a longer one put together in a few weeks.

It’s more than a fight for my life. It’s a fight for my soul and my soul mate.
Jazzy is a not so average coffee-loving teen, coping with the deaths of her father and sister, dealing with her famous uncle’s fans, an overprotective big brother, and a depressed mother, all while trying to make friends at her new school-her old school’s rival. She meets a gorgeous green-eyed hottie who turns out to be more than human, and more than just some high school crush. On her first day at the new school she unknowingly enraged a very dangerous breed of demon who wants her soul or life as payment. With the help of some supernatural friends and protectors, she remains safe. Until what remains of her family is put in danger. Can Jazzy save her family, her life, her soul and soul mate, or will all be lost?
*Warning* Mature Content. This contains some profanity, mild sexual situations, innuendoes, and violence. Recommended for ages 17 and up, depending on maturity level.
“What class do you have next?” he asks me. Dang, I have to use my puddle brain.
“Uhh…”Shoot! Why didn’t I take the time to memorize this thing?
“She’s got study hall with Mrs. Kling.” Skeeter answers for me. How exactly does she know that? I look at her. “Sweetie, your schedule is in your hand, and close your mouth, you don’t wanna drool.” She whispers before walking over to the group of kids standing by the door. That leaves me alone with Mr. Brain-Freeze-Inducer, himself.
I hope everyone enjoys this!

Fried brains for dinner?

All last night and all day today I have been thinking, and thinking, and thinking some more. Why you may ask? Well, I had an idea proposed to me and I needed to be sure this particular route would right for me. I won’t go into any details but I have a lovely friend that I can blame for all of this thinking. It’s not a bad thing, just new, different, scary and exciting.

So because of all of this thinking I’ve been doing as of late, I can agree with my Jack Skellington bobble head sitting on my desk. Yes, my brain is fried. Yes, I hae thought this through. Yes, I am very close to clinically insane for talking to and agreeing with a toy. 😉

I have not been able to catch up on reading anything recently and it’s very disappointing. I absolutely love, love, love reading. I have a major addiction to it, and I’m proud of it. But alas, there comes a time when every addict realizes, I have a problem. When I read a book, I get sucked in and pretty much ignore everything that goes on around me. So, in order to get things done that needs done, I am quitting cold turkey. *Until the next book in one of my favorite series comes out at the end of the month, EEP!*

New synopsis made, I’m not sure if it will replace the one that was already made, but it’s a possibility. The cover will be revealed this coming week. Super exciting stuff!

Rewrites and editing await my return. Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend are getting into the Holiday spirit of Halloween….My house tonight will be covered in pumpkin guts 😉 Have fun!

Just a bit

So last night my Muse decided to grace me with her presence. In doing so, she woke me from slumber and didnt leave me with an organized list of details, conversations, ideas, whatever else. I usually tend to feel like a crazy, talking about the extra people in my brain. It’s amusing to me when I find notes, or text’s that I’ve written during these times. Anyway, WIP 1 & 2 are coming along nicely…this excites me 🙂

True Connection is still in the editing phase. I found a section that needs a rewrite so that will commence this evening. I hope.

I am leaning towards revealing the cover sooner! I’m just too excited to keep it under wraps this long! It’s goregous. Anyway, I’ll surprise you one day with it!

I know this is short but I have several appointments today I must deal with! Have a good one! I’ll leave you this song 🙂
